Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The second-place IronPigs (76-62) play Game One of a two-game series against the third-place Scranton/WB Yankees (69-66). After getting swept in a doubleheader (4-0, 4-0) by Syracuse last night, the Pigs have lost four of their last five games and now tied with Gwinnett for the Wild Card. Over a longer stretch, the Pigs have gone just 34-38 since June 16 -- when they led the North by 5.0 games... The Yankees -- New York's top affiliate -- split a twinbill against Pawtucket last night (W, 3-0; L, 2-0) but lost the four-game home series, 3-1. Previously, the streaky Yanks had won six straight following a season-long, nine-game losing streak. Once 57-47 on July 28, the Yanks have just 12-19 since.

RHP Nate Bump (4-0, 5.33) will start for LHV against RHP David Phelps (5-6, 3.53).

The Pigs postseason Magic No. is 7 (which would clinch at least a Wild Card tie -- a one-game playoff @ CCP)

BRAVE NEW WORLD':

The Gwinnett Braves won last night, 2-1, and have tied the Pigs in the Wild Card race. This is the first time the Pigs have had neither sole possession of the North Division OR the Wild Card lead since 5/16 -- a span of 105 days.
