Mississippi Braves News Release

PEARL, MS-Jordan Kreke singled up the middle to drive in Cory Harrilchak from third as the M-Braves claimed a 4-3 victory in the bottom of the ninth at Trustmark Park. Mycal Jones led the Braves' offense with a perfect three-for-three night at the plate, driving in one and scoring three runs.

Harrilchak led off the bottom of the ninth with a double to center field. Jones sacrificed him to third, and the Mudcats (19-23, 42-70) intentionally walked Kennelly. Kreke then delivered the game-winning drive through the infield.

With the win, the M-Braves (20-23, 45-68) moved to 14-29 in one-run games this season. Mississippi had four runs on nine hits while Carolina managed three runs on seven hits. The M-Braves also committed one error in the game.

Benino Pruneda (2-6) picked up the win. He limited the Mudcats to just two hits while fanning two in three innings of relief. James Adkins (0-1) surrendered the loss in his 1/3 inning of work.

Jones launched his sixth home run of the season over the Long Electric Picnic Pavilion to give the M-Braves a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. In the fifth, Jones doubled and scored on a Matt Kennelly single to left field, extending the M-Braves lead to 2-0.

Carolina responded in the top of the sixth. Quintin Berry singled, then swiped second and third base. Neftali Soto walked and Bill Rhinehart followed with a two-run double to tie the game at 2-2. Yasmani Grandal singled to center field, plating Rhinehart and giving the Mudcats a 3-2 lead.

The M-Braves tied it up in the bottom of the seventh when Jones singled and stole second. Kennelly then drove him in with a double to right field.

For starters, Luis Avilan went six frames for the M-Braves, giving up three earned runs on five hits and two walks while fanning six. Mudcats' starter Justin Lehr went just four innings. He gave up just two earned runs on four hits, a homer, and one strikeout.
