Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres fell behind by nine runs early Sunday and lost to the Fresno Grizzlies, 12-5. The Grizzlies scored six times in the first against Pedro Hernandez, striking for five hits and taking advantage of three Padres errors in the inning. Hernandez only lasted one inning Sunday after excelling in his three previous starts since joining Tucson from High-A Lake Elsinore.

Logan Forsythe was 3-for-3 atop the Padres order and now has seven hits in his last eight at bats. Fresno's offense was led by Brad Eldred and Max Ramirez, who each had three hits, a home run and three RBIs. Fresno starter Felix Romero left after 4.2 innings, so reliever Dan Runzler was given credit for the win after pitching three innings, allowing one run and striking out four Padres hitters. The Padres now enter the All-Star break with a 45-45 record, in third place, nine games behind first place Sacramento.

The Padres lost the final two games in Fresno after winning the first two games of the series.

Next Game: Thursday, July 14 vs. Las Vegas at Fort Wayne, IN

Next Home Game: Monday, July 18 vs. Tacoma at 7:00 pm
