SALT LAKE CITY (July 6, 2011) - The Pacific Coast League announced today that Salt Lake Bees infielder Jeff Baisley has been added to the PCL's 2011 Triple-A All-Star Team. He replaces Brian Barden who opted out of his contract with the Texas Rangers organization on July 1 to become a free agent. Baisley and teammate Gil Velazquez will suit up for the 24th annual Triple-A All-Star Game, slated for July 13 at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City. The PCL squad will take on the International League All-Stars beginning at 7:05 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast live on MLB Network.

Baisley, 28, has appeared in 80 games for the Bees in 2011, hitting .321 with a team-high 102 hits, 17 doubles and 64 RBI. He also leads the team with 17 home runs. In 2010, Baisley hit .274 with 14 doubles, six home runs and 32 RBI in 49 games with Triple-A Sacramento. He made his major league debut with the Oakland Athletics on September 9, 2008 at Detroit.

The Tampa, Fla. native was originally selected by Oakland in the 12th round of the 2005 draft. He joined the Angels organization via free agency during the 2010 offseason. His selection in 2011 marks his third career All-Star selection and the first at the Triple-A level in his seven-year professional playing career.

2011 will mark the 14th showdown under the current IL vs. PCL format, as the first 10 contests pitted All-Stars selected from National League affiliates against those from the American League. The overall series stands at 7-6. Additional information about the Triple-A All-Star Game and its festivities can be found on the official websites of the Pacific Coast League (www.pclbaseball.com), the International League (www.ilbaseball.com), and the Salt Lake Bees (www.slbees.com).
