Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

The crowd was alive Tuesday for "Guaranteed Win Night" at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark, provided by Jones & Lowe Agency. The Bombers took the early lead, but were not able to hold on as the Coppell Copperheads took the finale of the two game set 4-1.

Coach Gary Blair from the Aggie women's national championship team will suit up for the Brazos Valley Bombers and take an official at-bat as the designated hitter for the Bombers as they face the expansion team from Lafayette, LA - the Acadina Cane Cutters.

The Bombers jumped out to an early lead on a Brennyn Smith sacrifice fly in the first against the Coppell starter Carlton O'Neal, but that was all the Bombers could muster off the six-foot righty from St. Mary's University. Despite the outcome, Brazos Valley did have some bright spots at the plate. Catcher John Hale went two for four, and first baseman Trey Porras was one for three at the dish.

Alec Mills started on the bump for the Bombers and made fast work of the Copperhead lineup through five, until he could not get out of a jam in the sixth. Coppell plated all four of their runs in that inning, and despite a promising bottom of the ninth, the three run lead was too much for the Bombers to overcome. All was not lost however; fans exiting at the end of the game received a complementary ticket to the 2011 TCL All-Star Game on July 18th.

Tomorrow the Bombers will head to Alexandria, Louisiana to begin a two game series with the Aces. This Friday, the Bombers will be celebrating the Texas A&M Women's Basketball National Championship with Coach Blair bobblehead night. Saturday, July 2nd, will be Salute the Troops Night at the ballpark, where we will pay homage to those American Heroes, past and present, who have bravely served our nation.
