Dominique Canty Out with Knee Injury
June 23, 2011 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO, June 23, 2011 - Chicago Sky Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman announced today that veteran guard Dominique Canty is expected to miss the next three weeks of the 2011 WNBA season following arthroscopic knee surgery performed today on her left knee.
"It is unfortunate we will lose Dominique for a period of time," said Chatman. "She is a valuable leader on the court, and our younger, more inexperienced players will need to mature quickly for us to compete against the best of the Eastern Conference."
Canty, the 5-9 guard from the University of Alabama, is in her fifth year with the Sky and 13th year in the WNBA. She has averaged 7.5 points and 2.8 assists in 24.5 minutes over 158 games in her career, the 11th most games played by any player in the history of the league.
