Heath Pitches the Knights to a 5-2 Victory

June 17, 2011 - International League (IL1)
Charlotte Knights News Release

FORT MILL, S.C. - All it took was a mound visit to lead to a Knights victory. Charlotte starter Deunte Heath finished the game with eight strikeouts as Charlotte defeated Syracuse 5-2 at Knights Stadium.

With the Knights ahead 2-1 in the 4th inning and a runner on base, Charlotte pitching coach Richard Dotson went out to the mound to talk with Heath. Dotson, who was named the International League All-Star Team Pitching Coach earlier in the day, had the words of wisdom. Following the meeting Heath struck out the next five batters he faced.

The strong pitching performance gave Heath his second straight win. The Knights offense provided their starter with enough support thanks to a few key RBI hits from Lastings Milledge. Closer Josh Kinney was able to get the final four outs for his sixth save of the season.

The Knights and Chiefs continue their series tomorrow at 7:15 PM. RHP Freddy Dolsi will start for the Knights and RHP Craig Stammen will start for the Chiefs.

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at for more information.
