Syracuse Mets News Release

The Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, lost 5-2 to the Charlotte Knights on Friday night. Lefthander Tommy Milone allowed five runs for just the second time in twelve starts this season as Charlotte strung together seven hits in five and one-third innings against the Chiefs southpaw.

Charlotte (31-35) strung together two runs in the third inning after Milone had retired the game's first six hitters. Left fielder Lastings Milledge doubled in two runs after Jordan Danks singled and Eduardo Escobar reached on a Tug Hulett error. Milledge would plate the Knights' third run in the fifth inning after an Adam Fox error and later score on a Jim Gallagher single.

Syracuse (27-38) scored a run in between the Knights' two-run innings, with a Jesus Valdez RBI single in the fourth. However, Syracuse stranded Valdez and Tug Hulett when Knights starter Deunte Heath struck out the remaining three batters.

Charlotte added a sixth-inning run to knock Milone out of the game. With one out, Tyler Flowers walked, Michael Restovich singled, and Danks lined an RBI single to left field.

Michael Aubrey crushed his seventh home run of the season in the eighth inning to bring the Chiefs to within 5-2. However, the Chiefs were shut down by Charlotte relievers Gregory Infante and Josh Kinney to end the game.

The Chiefs and Knights play the third of a four-game set on Saturday night at 7:15. Righthander Craig Stammen will start for the Chiefs for the first time in sixteen days after a brief stint in Washington.
