Stars Host Silent Auction Benefitting Breast Cancer Treatment

June 13, 2011 - Southern League (SL) Huntsville Stars

Huntsville, AL - On average, one out of every eight women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. While there is currently no cure for breast cancer, there were more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. in 2010. The Huntsville Stars are hosting a silent auction to benefit the treatment of breast cancer and add to the growing list of survivors.

Starting Monday, June 13, fans can bid on a once-in-a-lifetime package. This baseball fan's dream package includes the opportunity to take batting practice with the Huntsville Stars, inclusion in the 2011 official Huntsville Stars team card set, an official batting practice cap and jersey, a pink "Brew Crew" team autographed bat, a team autographed baseball, a 15-person skybox (food and drink not included) and the chance to throw out an honorary first pitch. The starting bid is $750 and all bids must be increased by a minimum of $10. The auction will close on Sunday, June 19 at noon, just in time for Father's Day!

Bids will be accepted at the Stars' official website, www.huntsvillestars.com, through email at starsinfo@huntsvillestars.com or over the phone by calling (256) 882-2562. Fans can also fax their bid to (256) 880-0801. Please include your full name, phone number, email address and bid amount with your bid.

The Stars continue a five-game series against the Jackson Generals tonight with "Case of the Mondays" Monday. Fans will be asked to write down the dumbest thing their boss ever said for a chance to win a case of soda from Buffalo Rock! Gates open at 6 p.m. for the 6:43 p.m. start time. For tickets and more information, call (256) 882-2562 or visit huntsvillestars.com!
