FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights swept a doubleheader Sunday afternoon en route to an opening series sweep of the Norfolk Tides. The Knights defeated the Tides by a score of 2-1 in both games to make them 4-0 on the season.

In the first game, the Knights had a tremendous pitching performance from starter Freddy Dolsi. The right hander pitched 6.0 innings allowing just one run off of four hits as he earned his first win of the season. The only scoring the Knights needed was a two run homer from catcher Tyler Flowers in the first inning.

The early score gave Charlotte a lead they would never relinquish. Charlotte closer Brian Bruney retired the final three batters of the game to earn his second save of the season.

The Knights continued to use strong pitching to get them the win in the second game. Pitcher Wes Whisler made a spot start for the Knights and he did not allow a run in five innings of work. Whisler got the win and struck out three.

Outfielder Alejandro De Aza continued to swing a hot bat as he went 2 for 3 at the plate. De Aza's solo home run in the 3rd inning turned out to be the deciding run in the game. The speedy De Aza also picked up his second double of the season.

This is the first time in franchise history that the Knights have started 4-0. The Knights are the only team without a defeat in the International League South Division.

The Knights begin a three game series with the Durham Bulls on Monday with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 PM. RHP Brandon Hynick will make his first start of the season for the Knights, while the Bulls will counter with LHP Alex Torres.

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at for more information.
