Austin, TX March 23, 2011 - The Austin Toros fell to the Idaho Stampede 89-85 Saturday, at Cedar Park Center. The Stampede's Cedric Jackson led all scorers with 25 points and helped Idaho snap the Toros four game home winning streak.
The game had a slow start as both teams struggled to find their shooting rhythm. The Stampede took the lead early in the first, shooting 53 percent from the field compared to the Toros 30 percent. The Stampede stretched their lead to seven with the help of nine points contributed by Cedric Jackson and led 22-15 at the end of the first. Tre Kelley scored 11 points in the first half and helped the Toros stay close, but the Stampede held their lead and ended the half with a 49-39 advantage.
The Toros caught fire in the second half and opened the third quarter with a 9-3 run. The Toros outscored the Stampede 26-17 and only trailed the Stampede by one point at the end of the third. With 11:33 left to play in the fourth the Toros took the lead after two Kevin Palmer free throws. The Stampede countered with an Antoine Walker three pointer, which returned the lead back to the Stampede. The Toros and Stampede battled down the stretch causing six ties in the fourth quarter alone. With under a minute to play the Toros Leo Lyons tied the game with a lay-up. Seconds later, the Stampede regained the lead on a Jackson lay-up. The Toros had the last possession, but were unable to convert.
The Toros had six players in double digit scoring, Leo Lyons and Kevin Palmer led the Toros in scoring with 15 points each. Antoine Walker followed Jackson to round out the Stampede leader board with 18 points and 15 rebounds.
