D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. (March 24, 2011) - The 2011 D.C. United Kickoff Luncheon, supported by H&R Block and Clark Construction, raised more than $30,000 for United for D.C.'s three signature programs. Held at the Washington Marriott Hotel, attendees heard from United President and CEO Kevin Payne before Head Coach Ben Olsen introduced the 2011 club.
All proceeds from the event benefited United for D.C., which was established by D.C. United as a 501 (c) 3 organization in 2002. The non-profit foundation has three signature programs: United Reads which encourages a love for reading and healthy lifestyles in six local public schools; Kicks for Kids, which provides the game-day experience to thousands of at-risk, under-served youth each season; and United Soccer Club, which provides free after-school soccer programming to disadvantaged urban children throughout the greater D.C. area.
