Windsor Spitfires Secure Home Ice Advantage in Round One

March 19, 2011 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Windsor Spitfires

(Windsor) By virtue of Windsor's 5-4 overtime victory against the Saginaw Spirit in Saginaw earlier tonight, the Windsor Spitfires have finished as the fourth seed in the OHL's Western Conference and will have home ice advantage as they take on the Western Conference's fifth ranked Erie Otters in round one of the 2011 OHL Playoffs. Spitfire fans are encouraged to wear red for each Spitfire home game as part of the Spits "Mission 9-10-11" theme for the 2011 OHL Playoffs.

Entering tonight's game, Windsor and Erie were tied for fourth in the Western Conference standings at 82 points apiece. Windsor needed to earn at least one point in tonight's game to move out of the #5 seed and past Erie in the standings, and the Spitfires victory catapulted them to the Western Conference's #4 seed.
