Owen Sound Attack News Release

The playoff picture in the Western Conference became a little bit less clear last night when the Attack defeated the Guelph Storm by a score of 5-2 at the Sleeman Centre. Guelph's loss, combined with London's victory over Sarnia means that the London Knights are only two points back of the Storm for 7th with two games remaining and a game in hand.

To Attack overage defenseman Matt Stanisz, it doesn't matter who the Attack match up against in the Western Conference Quarter Final. "There are no easy teams and there are no easy games in this conference. We knew it would be a dog fight to get where we want to go. Mentally, we're prepared to play anyone and once the season is over, I am sure the coach will sit down with us as a team and go over our opponent."

The Attack (45-17-1-4) have clinched the Midwest division, Western Conference and have set franchise records for wins (45), points (95), road wins (20, previously 18 in 04-05) and can tie a franchise record for home wins tonight (26 in 98-99) with a victory over London. Since Christmas, the Attack has gone 13-1-0-1 at home and has not lost in regulation since January 22nd.

NEWS and NOTES:

- Defenseman Geoffrey Schemitsch (Upper Body) has resumed full practice and there is a strong probability he will be ready for playoffs.

- Goaltender Scott Stajcer (hip) has resumed full practice and goaltending drills and is close to being 100%.

- Defenseman Jesse Blacker (undisclosed) should be fully healthy and ready to go for playoffs.

- Forward Andrew Fritsch (flu) will be a game time decision.

- The Attack have re-called forward Holden Cook
