Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that team has signed defensemen Eric Baier ["BUY er"] and Denny Urban ["ER ben"] to Amateur Tryout Agreements. In another transaction also completed today, defenseman Louis Liotti was loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL.
Baier (6'2/210) (22), who hails from North Kingstown, Rhode Island, just completed his senior season at Providence College where he led defensemen on the team with twelve points (5g-7a) in thirty-four games for the Friars. In 127 total college games, Baier scored nine goals, assisted on twenty-three others (thirty-two points) and picked up seventy-two penalty minutes. Urban (5'10/170) (22), who hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, just completed his senior season at Robert Morris University, where he led defensemen on the team with forty-points (8g-32a) in thirty-five games for the Colonials. Urban earned a selection to the College Hockey America All-Rookie team in his freshman season and was chosen to the All-CHA First Team in his sophomore year. Urban, who served as an Alternate Captain for the Colonials this past season, established the all-time career scoring record for defensemen (28g-84a112pts in 136 total games) at Robert Morris during his time with the team. This marks the second trip of the season for Liotti to the AHL. He played three games with the Lake Erie Monsters in late February without registering any points or penalty minutes. Liotti has thirteen assists and twenty-two penalty minutes in fifty-three games with Reading this year.
