
Energy Guard Chris Lofton Signs in Russia

DES MOINES, IA, February 28, 2011- Iowa Energy guard Chris Lofton, the teams 1st round pick in the 2010 NBA D-League Draft, has signed a contract with BC Lokomotiv in Krasnodar, Russia, which plays in Russia's top basketball league
Lofton averaged 15.6 points in 34 games with the Energy, shooting 42.5% from 3-point range. The 6'2" guard out of Tennessee was leading the D-League in steals at the time of his departure at 2.1 per game.
"Any time you lose a player of Chris' caliber, other players have to step up. We have built this team to withstand some attrition, and we are confident that we have the players in place to make a run at the D-League title," said Energy General Manager Chris Makris. "We wish Chris the best of luck in Russia, and hope to have him in an Energy uniform again in the future".
The Energy will retain Lofton's rights in the NBA D-League through the 2012-2013 season.
Iowa leads the D-League with a 28-10 record, and have been in 1st place in their division for 138 consecutive games.
Iowa takes on Erie at 6pm Central Time tonight. The Energy will the travel to Springfield and Maine before returning home on Sunday, March 6th for Faith and Family Night presented by Goalsetter Systems. Faith-based star Aaron Shust will perform in concert after the Energy game.
