Erie BayHawks News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania, Tuesday, March 1, 2011 - The Iowa Energy used a balanced scoring attack for the second straight game with six players notching double figures, to down the Erie BayHawks 115-93 and take a three and a half game lead in the Eastern Conference standings.

Courtney Sims and Curtis Stinson lead the Energy attack, each tallying double-doubles. Sims had 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Stinson added 19 points and 10 assists.

Iowa (29-10) picked up where they left off on Sunday as they cruised to an early nine point lead at the end of the first quarter behind nine points from Sims. Erie looked as if they climbed back into it as they trailed by just three with eight minutes to go in the half but that's all the closer they would come the rest of the game. Iowa entered halftime leading 60-50.

After a back-and-forth third frame Iowa sealed things with a big fourth quarter outscoring the BayHawks 29-15.

Along with the effort from Sims and Stinson, Iowa got 21 points from Mike Taylor, 14 points apiece from Othyus Jeffers and Stanley Robinson, and 10 from Marqus Blakely.

Erie was led by Kyle Goldcamp's double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, and five other players hit double digits: Nate Linhart (16), Tasmin Mitchell (15), Garrett Temple (13), Ivan Johnson (11) and Blake Ahearn (11).

Erie (24-12) guard Blake Ahearn left in the second quarter after falling hard on his right hip and did not return. Erie also played much of the second half without Johnson, the team's leading scorer, who was ejected just four minutes in to the third quarter.

The start of the game was delayed approximately 20 minutes due to slippery spots on the court.

Erie welcomes the Tulsa 66ers to town for a two-game set Friday and Saturday at 7pm each night.
