Falcons Lose to Pirates 4-1

The Springfield Falcons lost to the Portland Pirates by a score of 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at the MassMutual Center. Portland's Mark Parrish scored a pair of goals, while Cody Goloubef tallied for the Falcons.

Both teams were playing their third game in three days and the first period featured each club exchanging scoring chances. Portland's Parrish scored a shorthanded marker at 16:19 of the first period, but Goloubef tied the score at 1-1 when he scored at 17:23 of the opening frame.

After a scoreless second period, Portland regained their lead at 2-1 when Matt Ellis scored his eighth marker of the year at 6:53 of the third period. Parrish converted his second goal of the game at 9:30 to add some insurance and give the Pirates a 3-1 advantage. Colin Stuart added an empty net goal in the game's final seconds giving the Pirates a 4-1 win.

GAME NOTES

Mike Blunden missed his second straight game due to injury.

Trevor Smith missed his third straight game due to injury.
