
Chivas USA Defender Jonathan Bornstein Is Named to U.S. National Team for Friendly Against South Afr

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, November 11, 2010) - Chivas USA defender and captain Jonathan Bornstein has been named by Head Coach Bob Bradley to the U.S. Men's National Team roster for a friendly against South Africa in the Nelson Mandela Challenge. The match will take place on Wednesday, November 17 in Cape Town, South Africa and will be broadcast on ESPN2 and Galavision at 11 am PT. The Los Alamitos native has made 34 appearances for the United States National Team, including two matches against Algeria and Ghana at this year's World Cup.
Bornstein made his international debut on January 20, 2007, and was an important part of the United States' 2007 Gold Cup victory. He also started every match for the team en route to a runner-up performance at the 2009 Confederations Cup. In Major League Soccer, Bornstein was named Rookie of the Year in 2006 and selected to the All-Star team in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. A captain of Chivas USA in 2010, Bornstein leads the club all-time in minutes played and will join Mexican club Tigres starting on January 1st. Bornstein also played college soccer at Cal Poly Pomona and UCLA before joining MLS.
Former Chivas USA goalkeeper Brad Guzan was named to Bradley's squad as well. Guzan has made 18 appearances for the National Team and was also included in Bradley's roster for the 2010 World Cup.
