Chicago Fire Midfielder Logan Pause Called up to U.S. Men's National Team

CHICAGO, IL (Nov.11, 2010) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club and U.S. Soccer announced today that Fire midfielder Logan Pause has been called up to the U.S. Men's National Team by Head Coach Bob Bradley for the upcoming friendly match against South Africa at Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 1 PM CT (ESPN2/Galavision). Pause received his first career appearance for the U.S. Men's National Team July 4, 2009 in a CONCACAF Gold Cup match against Grenada. Pause has registered five caps while donning the red, white and blue. In the Fire's 2010 MLS campaign, the defensive midfielder started 26 matches and tallied one goal and three assists.
The Nelson Mandela Challenge, an annual one-off event typically hosted in South Africa, began in 1994 and has seen South Africa face opponents like Brazil, Argentina, Holland, Nigeria and a host of others.
Combined with the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup - in which the United States reached its first final of a major FIFA competition after defeating No.1-ranked and current FIFA World Cup Champion Spain in the semifinal - the U.S. will play its 12th game on South African soil in three years.
