Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, and head coach Matt Thomas announced today the team has re-signed center Chris D'Alvise (DOWL-veez). Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

D'Alvise, 24, is the eighth returning player from last year's Thunder team that made its first ever appearance in the Conference Final.

"Chris is a dynamic and gifted player at our level and we're excited for what his talents do in boosting our hockey club for this year." said Thomas. "It's a key signing as we add another core player from our playoff run last season. We'll look for him to address the challenge of improving his overall two-way game and continue to be a difference-maker each and every night."

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound pivot was named 2009-10 Thunder Rookie of the Year last year to lead the Thunder and rank fourth among ECHL rookies with 34 goals, additionally ranking second on the team with 67 points (34g-33a) in 68 games.

During last year's run in the Kelly Cup Playoffs, D'Alvise was tied for second on the Thunder with six postseason goals and scored nine points (6g-3a) in 13 games.

The native of Mississauga, Ontario was named to the National Conference All-Star team last year and also achieved Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie of th e Month honors in March, netting 23 points (11g-12a) in a 15-game stretch.

D'Alvise, whose father was a member of the 1980 Canadian Olympic team and uncle, Bob, was an All-American selection in 1975 at Michigan Tech University, began his career in 2008-09 by collecting three assists in four games with the Cincinnati Cyclones.

"I'm really excited to be coming back to a team with a good blend of returning players and new, but experienced newcomers," said D'Alvise. "I think we all learned a lot throughout our deep run into the playoffs and hopefully that will help translate into a good, quick start to the upcoming year."

D'Alvise continued, "Our organization has been improving every year on the ice and I think we owe it to our fans to make that jump and get into the Kelly Cup Finals. The fan support we get on a nightly basis is second-to-none in this league and I'm honored to come back and get another opportun ity to represent a great organization and city."

Previously, he spent all four years (2005-09) of his college career at Clarkson University (NCAA), scoring 105 career points (49g-56a) in 145 career games while guiding the Knights to two appearances (2007, 2008) in the NCAA "Frozen Four" tournament.
