Paul Flache Returns to the Gladiators

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have agreed to terms with Paul Flache for the 2010-2011 season.

Flache returns to Gwinnett where he skated with the Gladiators for three seasons from 2004-2007. He scored the game winning overtime goal for Gwinnett to propel the Gladiators past the Louisiana IceGators and into the Western Conference Finals in the 2004 Kelly Cup Playoffs. In three seasons with the Gladiators, Flache earned 33 points (six goals, 27 assists) in 110 career games in Gwinnett. He had five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 14 Kelly Cup Playoff games with the Gladiators.

Over the past four seasons, the Toronto, Ontario, native skated overseas with Hern EV, Regensburg EV and with the Augsburg Panthers in Germany. Flache ranked third in points with 41 (16 goals, 25 assists) last season with Hern EV in 37 games. In four seasons in Germany, Flache recorded 76 points (28 goals, 48 assists) in 141 games.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound defenseman began his professional career with the Greenville Grrrowl during the 2002-03 season. He finished with 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in 46 games.

Flache also appeared in the American Hockey League from 2003-2006 with Chicago and Bridgeport. Flache earned 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 110 career AHL games.

Flache was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 5th round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft with the 152nd overall pick. He was also chosen by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft with the 144th overall pick in the 5th round.

The Gwinnett Gladiators open the 2010-11 season on the road before returning home to host the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday, October 22nd at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
