Cougars Sign Witala & Grewal

Prince George, BC - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce the signings of 15-year old forward Chase Witala and 15-year old defenceman Raymond Grewal to standard Western Hockey League education contracts. Witala and Grewal, both products of Prince George, were selected by the Cougars in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.

Witala was taken in the fifth round, 89th overall, by the Cougars in the Bantam Draft. Last season for the Prince George Bantam AAA Cougars, Witala scored 57 goals and added 53 assists for 110 points in only 47 games. The 5'9", 140 pound will make his Cougars debut Saturday night in an exhibition game against the Edmonton Oil Kings at CN Centre.

Grewal was the Cougars ninth pick in the Bantam Draft, going in the fifth round, 107th overall. Grewal collected eight goals and 25 assists last season for the Prince George Bantam AAA Cougars in 47 games. The 6'0", 157 pound defenceman has been short listed by Hockey BC for a spot on Team BC at the 2011 Canada Winter Games, February 11-27, 2011, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Grewal will make his Cougars debut Friday night in an exhibition game against the Oil Kings at CN Centre.

"We pride ourselves in giving local kids every opportunity to play at the highest level in Prince George and these two young men will help our continuing effort to build a championship team."
