Sounders FC Midfielder Sanna Nyassi Called in by Gambia

RENTON, WASH. - The Seattle Sounders FC announced today that the Gambia National Team has called in midfielder Sanna Nyassi for Saturday's African Cup of Nations qualifier with Namibia in Banjul, Gambia.

Nyassi will miss Seattle's U.S. Open Cup semifinal versus Chivas USA and the MLS match on Saturday at New England. He will return to Seattle on September 6.

Nyassi has started the last six MLS matches and eight altogether this season. He has three assists in 17 appearances.

Forward Fredy Montero Named MLS Player of the Week

Montero nets both goals in Sounders' 2-1 win over the Fire

RENTON, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC forward Fredy Montero was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 22 of the 2010 MLS season. Montero scored the first goal against the Chicago Fire to tie the game at 1-1 in the 36th minute. His second strike came in second half stoppage time to give the Sounders a 2-1 victory.

It is his second Player of the Week award. Montero also captured the Player of the Month award for July and has led Sounders FC to an unbeaten 5-0-2 record in league play. He has five goals and three assists in that stretch.
