Lynx Forward Rebekkah Brunson Selected to WNBA All-Defensive Second Team

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The WNBA today announced that Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson has been named to the WNBA All-Defensive Second Team. Brunson received six points to earn the third All-Defensive honors of her career (2007 and 2008). The 6-3 forward is the second player in Lynx history to receive All-Defensive honors, joining Nicky Anosike who was named to the First Team in 2009.

Brunson, who finished second in the league in rebounds per game, averaging a career-high 10.3 rpg, averaged a career-high 1.0 blocks per game in 2010. Brunson blocked 2+ shots 11 times and her 29 blocked shots ranked second on the Lynx behind Anosike's 32. The 2010 All-Star also swiped 1.2 steals per game, which put her fifth among Western Conference forwards. Brunson recorded 2+ steals 13 times in 2010, including a season-high four on June 1 vs. Phoenix.

Brunson joins Indiana's Tully Bevilaqua and Katie Douglas, Washington's Lindsey Harding, Seattle's Lauren Jackson and Atlanta's Sancho Lyttle on the Second Team. Defensive Player of the Year Tamika Catchings headlines the First Team, which also includes Chicago's Sylvia Fowles, Atlanta's Angel McCoughtry, New York's Cappie Pondexter and Seattle's Tanisha Wright.

A panel of the WNBA's 12 head coaches voted on the WNBA All-Defensive Team, selecting First and Second Teams by position. Coaches were not permitted to vote for players from their own team. Players earned two points for each First Team vote and one point for a Second Team vote.
