HOUSTON - The Houston Aeros, in conjunction with the National Hockey League's (NHL) Minnesota Wild, today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club will host the Peoria Rivermen at Xcel Energy Center on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. The Wild will then faceoff against the St. Louis Blues at 8:00 p.m. that night as a part of the fifth annual Hockey Day Minnesota.

"We are excited to provide our great hockey fans the opportunity to watch both the Wild and Aeros play at Xcel Energy Center on the same day," said Wild Assistant to the General Manager/Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill.

The AHL matchup will be a showdown of the Wild's and Blues' top prospects and marks the third time the Aeros will host a game at Xcel Energy Center. The club has split their previous two decisions in St. Paul, posting a 3-1 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Mar. 7, 2005 and dropping a 2-1 decision to the Milwaukee Admirals on Dec. 8, 2002.

Aeros full season ticket holders will receive a ticket to the Aeros game at Xcel Energy Center or have the opportunity to exchange for additional tickets to an Aeros game this season. Ticket information for the Wild game, including special packages will be released at a later date.

Hockey Day Minnesota is a celebration of the game from peewees to the pros as FOX Sports North completely dedicates its programming to hockey-related content. The day also features a University of Minnesota Golden Gopher game and the city of Moorhead will play host to a pair of outdoor high school contests. This event truly encompasses what the State of Hockey is all about.
