Houston Aeros Announce 2010-11 Season Schedule

HOUSTON - The Houston Aeros, in conjunction with the American Hockey League (AHL), today released the 2010-11 regular season schedule. The Aeros will begin the season October 9 at the expansion Oklahoma City Barons, and will play their home opener at Toyota Center October 16 versus the San Antonio Rampage. The Aeros, in conjunction with the Minnesota Wild, also announced today the team will play the Peoria Rivermen at Xcel Energy Center, February 12 at 2:30 PM in St. Paul, MN as part of the Minnesota Wild's Hockey Day Minnesota.

"We are thrilled with the dates we have for this season including a lot of great weekend and holiday dates," said Aeros Vice President of Business Operations Jamie Spencer. "We are excited about the addition of a second day game which will give more youth in Houston the opportunity to learn about hockey."

The 2010-11 schedule has 80 games - 39 home games at Toyota Center, one game at Xcel Energy Center, and 40 road games. The Aeros home schedule features 32 weekend games (13 Friday, 7 Saturday, 12 Sunday), two morning games beginning at 11:05 AM (Dec. 2 vs. Rockford and Feb. 17 vs. Chicago). There will be 10 afternoon games beginning at 4:05 PM and two afternoon games beginning at 5:05 PM. Evening games at Toyota Center will start at either 7:05 PM or 7:35 PM. This season, Houston is offering a variety of promotional and theme nights. In addition to the return of the 8th annual Kids Game (Dec. 2 vs. Rockford), the Aeros are excited to announce a second day game (Feb. 17 vs. Chicago), the HISD College Career Fair Day, to celebrate the youth in Houston. Additional fan favorite theme nights returning this season include: Military Night (Nov. 5), Boy Scout Night (Jan. 15), ChillyPalooza (Jan. 16), Canada Night (Jan. 28), and Girl Scout Ice Jam (Mar. 26).

The Aeros will play 78 of the 80 games on their schedule against the Western Conference, with Syracuse being the lone Eastern Conference Team the Aeros will face. The schedule features 58 games in the West Division, including 12 games against the Texas Stars, and 10 games against both San Antonio and Oklahoma City. The Aeros will also play 20 games against the North Division, including Abbotsford (4), Grand Rapids (4), Hamilton (2), Lake Erie (4), Manitoba (4) and Toronto (2). Rochester is the only Western Conference team not on the Aeros schedule for the second consecutive season.

Houston's longest home stand this year is five games, beginning March 6 vs. Abbotsford. The Aeros will also play Manitoba twice, followed by games against Milwaukee and San Antonio to finish the home stand. It begins a stretch in which the Aeros play nine of 11 games at Toyota Center. Houston will play at Antonio and Texas before returning home for a four game home stand to finish the stretch. In total, the Aeros will play 11 of 14 games at home in the month of March.

The Aeros have two road trips of five games; the first begins November 6 at Oklahoma City and ends November 14 at Peoria. Houston will play Abbotsford and Peoria twice during the trip. The second road trip begins at Lake Erie December 12 and ends with back-to-back games at Manitoba December 17 and 18. The Aeros also play Hamilton and Grand Rapids over the seven-day trip
