FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Lansing Lugnuts dashed out to a 6-0 lead and beat the TinCaps, 8-5, Tuesday at Parkview Field. Dean Anna had three hits including a home run and RHP Matt Jackson fired four perfect innings in relief.

The TinCaps' magic number to clinch a playoff spot stays at four.

In the top of the first, Justin Jackson and Kevin Nolan roped back-to-back singles to lead off. Brad Glenn walked to load the bases and Sean Ochinko followed with a three-run double.

In the third, an error and a single were followed by another run-scoring double by Ochinko, making it a 4-0 game. Brad McElroy laced an RBI single to make it 5-0. Jackson entered the game and induced a run-scoring double play and struck out the next batter to get out of the jam, but the TinCaps trailed, 6-0, after three innings.

Fort Wayne scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Anna swatted a solo homer in the fifth.

After the Lugnuts scored a run in the seventh to make it 7-3, the TinCaps loaded the bases with one out. RHP Nestor Molina induced a double-play ball to short-circuit the rally.

Fort Wayne rallied for two runs in the eighth; Daniel Meeley pounded an RBI double to right and Anna drove in a run with a single, but 7-5 was as close as the TinCaps would get.

Lansing's Michael Crouse smashed a solo homer to right-center to make it 8-5, finishing the scoring for the night.

Fort Wayne LHP Mike Watt (5-5) was saddled with the loss; Lansing RHP Dave Sever (6-9) was perfect through three innings and worked into the sixth inning to pick up the win. RHP Casey Beck snagged his fourth save of the year.

Fort Wayne dipped to 36-21 in the half, 72-55 for the season. The Lugnuts improved to 27-30 in the second half, 63-63 for the year.

The TinCaps open a three-game series Wednesday against the Great Lakes Loons (Class-A Los Angeles Dodgers) at 7:05 p.m. Fort Wayne LHP Jose De Paula (8-3) draws the start against Great Lakes RHP Josh Wall (7-6).
