South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

South Bend, IN - South Bend outfielder Ender Inciarte combined with pitcher Andrew Wolcott to lead the Silver Hawks to a 6-4 victory over the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Monday night. Inciarte had three RBIs and threw a runner out at the plate while Wolcott went seven strong innings as the Silver Hawks won for the fourth time in their last five games.

Wolcott (WP, 2-3) had allowed 10 or more hits in three of his last four starts, struggling to keep runners from circling the bases. That wasn't a problem Monday night as he allowed just one run on six hits and stranded six runners in seven innings to earn his first win since July 22nd.

After tossing the first six innings without allowing a run, Wolcott faced a second and third situation with two outs in the top of the seventh. After Robi Estrada singled to right field to score a run, Inciarte threw out Kyle Spraker at the plate to help his pitcher get out of the inning.

Inciarte got it done with the bat as well, hitting a RBI triple and scoring in the second inning to give the Silver Hawks an early 2-0 lead against Kyle Lobstein (LP, 8-7). The hit extended Inciarte's hitting streak to 10 games - tying his professional high.

Bobby Borchering hit a solo home run in the fourth inning, pushing the lead to 3-0. The shot over the message board in left was Borchering's 12th homer of the season and his fourth against the Hot Rods.

The Silver Hawks scored three more runs in the bottom of the eighth with Inciarte providing a two-out, two-run single to center for the 6-1 lead.

Things got dicey in the ninth however, as the Hot Rods scored twice against Brad Gemberling (ND) to make the game interesting again. Brian Budrow (SV, 4) inherited runners at first and second and one down and then struck out Estrada for the second out. Burt Reynolds chopped a single to shortstop and tried for second when the throw got away. Even with a run scoring ahead of him, Reynolds was thrown out easily at second base by first baseman Ramon Castillo to end the ballgame and give the Silver Hawks the victory.

The four game series concludes on Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM Eastern Time at Coveleski Stadium. LHP Tyler Skaggs (8-4, 3.63 overall stats) will make his second start with South Bend after being acquired from the Cedar Rapids Kernels (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) in the Dan Haren trade while Bowling Green counters with RHP Albert Suarez (0-4, 5.06 ERA). Pregame coverage begins at 6:10 PM Eastern Time on 1620 ESPN Radio and online at www.silverhawks.com .
