Suns Seal Series with Victory

The Hagerstown Suns (20-30, 56-64) dominated the Greensboro Grasshoppers (24-25, 56-63) 8-1 Monday night to close the five game series at Municipal Stadium.

Washington Nationals Nyjer Morgan played center field for the Suns for seven innings for part of his rehab assignment.

Right to start, the Suns took the lead in the first inning with Destin Hood driving in JP Ramirez with a double. Ramirez had previously reached on a line drive single to right field.

Greensboro tied the game in the fourth inning after Jeff Corsaletti hit a homerun to right field.

It did not take long for the Suns to answer back in the bottom half of the inning as Hood hit a triple to right field. Hagerstown's bats kept going with back to back singles from Brett Newsome and Rick Hague. Stephen King drove them all in with a homer to right field making the score 5-1. Scoring another run was a double from JP Ramirez bringing in Adrian Sanchez.

The Suns put the cherry on top of the sundae in the eighth making the score 8-1 after Eury Perez was brought in after a RBI by JP Ramirez.

Hagerstown's starter Mitchell Clegg (9-1) got the win pitching six innings giving up only a run and five hits.

Matt Montgomery (9-11), Greensboro's starter got the loss pitching through the fourth giving up seven runs.

The Suns hit the road tomorrow to Salisbury, Maryland to play a four game series to the Delmarva Shorebirds starting off Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
