-SPIKES HIT SECOND HALF VS. 'CUTTERS: The SawBuck Series scene shifts to Historic Bowman Field for the second game of a three-game set between the State College Spikes and Williamsport Crosscutters. Williamsport now leads the season series, 4-3, and the all-time series, 28-27.
-LAST GAME: Cole White accounted for four of the Spikes' five runs, but a six-run eighth inning propelled the Crosscuttters to a 9-5 win last night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. White went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Pat Irvine went 3-for-4 with an RBI, ending just a home run shy of the cycle.
-FUESSER GETS THE BALL FOR SPIKES: Left-hander Zac Fuesser makes his fourth start and ninth overall appearance on the season for State College tonight. Fuesser has made two relief appearances against Williamsport this season, and earned his first pro save on July 3 when he finished off the Crosscutters in three shutout innings.
-HOLLANDS THE 'CUTTERS STARTER: Left-hander Mario Hollands will be Fuesser's opposite number in the battle of southpaws. Hollands started and allowed two runs on five hits and struck out eight over five innings in a no-decision against the Spikes on July 2. The El Cerrito, CA native is 3-0 with a 3.32 ERA at home this year.
-WALDRON THE PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Spikes right-hander Tyler Waldron was named the New York-Penn League's Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Waldron has a streak of 14 straight scoreless innings, 11 of which came in two starts against Auburn last week.
-CURRY NOW HITTING LEADER: With his five plate appearances last night, Matt Curry reached the minimum needed to take the New York-Penn League lead in batting average at .393. Curry is also first in slugging (.596) and second in on-base percentage (.476).
