Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

Javier Guzman started his own welcome back party with a walk-off home run to give the Hammerheads a 4-3 win over the Clearwater Threshers.

Guzman, back in Jupiter after he hit well enough in a short Triple-A stay to merit a long look at Double-A Jacksonville, drove in the Hammerheads' second run of the night, scored their third, and then drove himself in to cap the night's scoring.

Down 3-1, Jeremy Synan led off the bottom of the 4th with a double, reached third on Ben Lasater's single and scored on Guzman's sacrifice fly. Then in the 7th inning, it was Guzman's turn to lead off with a double. After Guzman stole third base with two outs, Clearwater third baseman Korby Mintken's throw took Derrick Ruf off the bag, allowing Jose Ceballos to reach and Guzman to cross the plate and tie the game.

That set the stage for Guzman's one-out homer in the bottom of the 9th inning. The line drive shot just cleared the right field wall, and just as quickly had the Jupiter dugout cleared, as players ran to home plate to greet Guzman with open arms.

Reliver Pete Andrelczyk got the win, tossing three scoreless frames, with a little help from his defense. Entering in the 7th, Andrelczyk allowed a single up the middle to Mintken, who then went first-to-third on Troy Hanzawa's bunt. But when first baseman Ben Lasater could only knock down a liner at him, Mintken took off for home. Lasater picked up the ball, stepped on first for the out and then threw to the catcher Ceballos, who got down in time to tag Mintken and erase Clearwater's best chance of scoring.

The two teams will get a short night of sleep before coming back to the ballpark Wednesday morning for the final Super Splash Recreation Day of the season at Roger Dean Stadium. Jupiter's Robert Bono will face Clearwater's Austin Hyatt, with first pitch scheduled for 12:05 p.m.
