
Seven BayBears Selected to Southern League All-Star Game

MOBILE, Ala. - On Wednesday, the Southern League announced its 2010 South Division All-Star squad, highlighted by seven members of the Mobile BayBears being selected to play in the Monday, July 12 contest at Joe W. Davis Stadium in Huntsville.
Catcher Konrad Schmidt, first baseman Bryan Byrne, shortstop Jake Elmore, outfielders Evan Frey and Ollie Linton and pitchers Josh Collmenter and Barry Enright were chosen to represent Mobile in this year's Southern League All-Star Game.
Schmidt has cracked six home runs while driving home 36 for the BayBears this season. He's hitting a team-high .319 in his first year at the Double-A level. Byrne is heading to the Southern League All-Star Game for the second time in his career. He's batting .268 with five home runs and 34 RBI this year.
Elmore skipped the High-A level at Visalia and came straight to the BayBears from Single-A South Bend. He's responded by batting .291 while stealing 16 bases. Frey and Linton have provided with the BayBears with stellar defense in the outfield all season.
Frey is batting .310 with a team-leading 93 hits and 20 stolen bases. Linton has also excelled with a .314 average. Frey was the BayBears Player of the Month in April while Linton took the award in May.
Collmenter has only made seven starts for the BayBears but has dominated with a 5-1 record to go with a 1.68 ERA. He didn't give up a run in his first 19.2 innings as a BayBear while he's fanned 41 hitters in 48.1 innings.
Enright posted a 4-1 record for the BayBears with a 2.88 ERA. He has 83 strikeouts on the season while only walking 15. He was the D-backs Minor League Pitcher of the Month in May and made his major league debut on Wednesday in St. Louis.
The BayBears will battle the Montgomery Biscuits at Hank Aaron Stadium on Wednesday night at 7:05 with right-hander Bryan Henry getting the start in Enright's place.
