RailHawks Travel to Charleston for Second Round of US Open Cup

CARY, N.C. (Monday, June 21, 2010) - The Carolina RailHawks travel to Charleston to face the Battery on Tuesday night in the second round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The match, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. will be broadcast live on USLLive.com. The winner of this match will face Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire at Toyota Park on June 29 in the third round of the tournament.

"This is a big game we are looking forward to," said RailHawks coach Martin Rennie. "We always have a good battle against the Charleston Battery and we're looking forward to renewing our rivalry on Tuesday night."

The RailHawks and the Battery have always enjoyed a healthy rivalry with Carolina having a 7-2-0 record against Charleston. The Battery are sitting atop of the United Soccer Leagues' Second Division with 24 points. They are led by forward Lamar Neagle who scored eight goals so far this season. The Battery defeated the CASL Elite Amateur team lead by Scott Schweitzer 4-2 to advance to the second round.

The RailHawks reached the second round by edging the Charlotte Eagles 1-0 last Tuesday. Forward Sallieu Bundu tallied the game winner assisted by Floyd Franks. Last Saturday in league play the RailHawks drew Crystal Palace Baltimore 1-1.

The RailHawks return home to host the Montreal Impact on Saturday June, 26 at 7 p.m. before embarking on another four-game road trip in July. June 26th will also be "Team Poster" night and fans will not want to miss out on this exciting giveaway.
