Austin Extends Lead at Top of USSF D-2 Pro League Standings to Seven Points in Week 11

A Wednesday night clash got Week 11 of the USSF D-2 Pro League underway when Vancouver Whitecaps FC made the long trip to the Puerto Rico Islanders on June 16 for a 1-1 draw in Bayamon. The next day, the Portland Timbers and NSC Minnesota Stars played the first of a home and away series in Week 11 with Minnesota taking the first game 1-0 in Portland. Saturday featured four matches, with the return leg of the Portland-Minnesota series taken by the Timbers 2-0 in Blaine, Minn. Crystal Palace Baltimore travelled down to the Carolina RailHawks and fought for a 1-1 draw while Puerto Rico earned three points at home to the Tampa Bay Rowdies. League leaders Austin extended the gap at the top of the table to seven points with a 3-1 victory at home against Miami FC. The Montreal Impact and Rochester Rhinos shared the points after a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon in Quebec to close out the weekend.

Week 11 Quick Hits

Portland and Minnesota split their home and away series with each team winning on the road. Austin, Vancouver and Carolina all hold a league low three losses. Austin is the only team to have scored more than 20 goals with 25. The next closest team is Tampa Bay with 18. Week 12 Preview Week 12 features an all-weekend schedule with five games set for Saturday, June 26 and one game on Sunday, June 27. Saturday's matches kick off with Crystal Palace Baltimore playing host to the NSC Minnesota Stars on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. Puerto Rico will be taking the trip north to Rochester where they kick off at 7 p.m. ET at Marina Auto Stadium. Also slated for a 7 p.m. ET start time, the Carolina Railhawks will be playing host to the Montreal Impact in Cary, N.C. Vancouver Whitecaps FC will be looking to increase their lead in the NASL Conference when they travel to St. Louis for an 8:10 p.m. ET kickoff. The final Saturday match will feature Miami FC against the Austin Aztex for a rematch of the Week 11 showdown at 7:30 p.m. ET in Ft. Lauderdale. The lone Sunday match features the Portland Timbers at home to the Tampa Bay Rowdies for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff in Portland, Oregon.

Week 12 Notes

Montreal and Carolina face each other in a crucial match as they both look to catch up with Vancouver at the top of the NASL Conference. All 12 teams are in action with one game each this week after three teams played twice last week and AC St. Louis was idle. St. Louis will be at home for just the fourth time after 11 weeks of play when they take on Vancouver at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park.
