Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves have named MIKE GORDON president.
GORDON joined the Wolves as vice president of partnerships in February 2009. Under his direction, the Wolves set franchise records in both corporate revenue and number of corporate partnerships during the 2009-10 season, which includes seeing corporate involvement increase by 24 percent.
"It is an honor to lead this organization and work for Don Levin and Buddy Meyers," said GORDON. "We have an extremely talented front office that has annually been able to grow the Wolves brand and become a cornerstone within the Chicagoland community. I look forward to our continued success both on and off the ice."
Prior to joining the Wolves, GORDON served as the vice president of sales for the Arena Football League's Chicago Rush, where he oversaw all of the team's corporate sponsorship initiatives. During his tenure at the Rush, the franchise ranked among the top two teams in the AFL in corporate sponsorship revenue for three straight years (2006, 2007 and 2008.)
"Mike has shown great leadership and understanding of the business of sports," said Wolves Chairman of the Board DON LEVIN. "He has a background that includes nearly every kind of job in this industry, and he is familiar with what needs to be done to lead this organization to continued growth."
The 40-year-old GORDON also spent seven years in the athletic department at DePaul University, where he served as the school's ticket manager (1995-1997), director of marketing (1997-2001) and assistant athletic director for external affairs (2001-2002).
A native of Arlington Heights and Knox College graduate, GORDON also performed consulting work with the Chicago Blackhawks, the 1994 World Cup and minor league baseball teams.
GORDON assumes the role previously held by Mike Polisky, who departed the team to become the senior associate athletic director for external affairs at Northwestern University.
