Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

The highly anticipated matchup between Aroldis Chapman, the Cuban defector and Felix Doubront was a flop as far as Louisville fans were concerned. On Monday night in Kentucky, the PawSox scored 7 times in the first 2+ innings, chasing Chapman, beating the Bats, 7-2. Chapman, who hit 101 miles an hour on the radar gun with his first pitch, was largely ineffective. He allowed the 7 runs on 6 hits. Chapman walked 6 batters.

Meanwhile, Doubront did nothing to tarnish his reputation. He was effective for five innings, allowing one run on 5 hits. Doubront whiffed 5 hitters, walking two. Despite surrendering one run, his ERA rose from 0.77 to 1.08 after 4 starts with Pawtucket. Ramon Ramirez was terrific in relief. After giving up a home run to Yonder Alonso, the rest of his three inning stint was scoreless. Scott Atchison pitched the ninth.

Daniel Nava got his team-high 38th RBI. Tug Hulett belted a 2 run homer and walked with the bases loaded. Ryan Kalish chipped in with two hits, including a double and an rbi. Niuman Romero and Aaron Bates also had two hits each.

The win was the tenth of the year on the road for Pawtucket (27-31).

The PawSox head to Indianapolis for a four game series that begins on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Adam Mills (1-4, 3.68) will pitch for the Sox.
