Peoria Rivermen News Release

Your new phone directories are arriving. Don't throw away the old ones, it's time to recycle them. Again this year, Dex, publisher of the AT&T Real Yellow Pages in Illinois and Northwest Indiana, is teaming up with the Peoria Rivermen and Hippie 101.1 FM by providing residents and businesses a fun and easy way to recycle their old directories.

People are encouraged to visit the Civic Center's marquee parking lot on May 27 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. when the Rivermen, Hippie 101.1 FM, and Dex One will be hosting the recycling event. While supplies last, everyone recycling an old directory will receive a free Rivermen coaster set. In addition, anyone that recycles a directory can register for a chance to win a pair of Rivermen season tickets for the 2010-11 season. After you recycle your outdated directory be sure to pick up the newest edition of the AT&T Real Yellow Pages at this same location.

"We really want to encourage local businesses to join us in recycling again this year," said Brendan Burke, director of communications with the Rivermen. "For the business that recycles the most phone books on Thursday, they will receive a free full-page ad in next year's Rivermen yearbook."

"At Dex One we proudly support and encourage the recycling of used directories and are happy to partner with the Rivermen and Hippie 101.1 FM on this event," said Steven Miller, franchise marketing manager, Dex One. "Folks who cannot make it to the event can log onto our local search site, DexKnows.com/Green, to find additional information on where to recycle their books."

Event Part of Ongoing Environmental Efforts

The recycling event is the latest component in Dex One's continued efforts to increase environmental consciousness. All of the company's directories are produced using paper that contains a minimum of 25 percent post-consumer content and environmentally-friendly glues and inks. The remainder is comprised of waste products generated by the lumber industry, which means no new trees are cut down specifically for the production of the company's directories.

Dex One encourages recycling of outdated directories as part of the "Directory Lifecycle," which educates consumers on all stages in the journey of making a directory, as well as the various uses for directories after they are recycled. Peoria residents and businesses can help. Every 100 tons recycled in the Peoria area:
