
Rivermen And Blues Mourn The Passing Of Michel Mongeau

ST. LOUIS (May 19, 2010) - The Peoria Rivermen and the St. Louis Blues lost a member of their hockey family on Saturday when Rivermen Hall of Fame center Michel Mongeau passed away after a battle with cancer.
"On behalf of the St. Louis Blues and Peoria Rivermen, I would like to express how saddened we are to lose Michel," said Blues President John Davidson. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Chantal and his two children Alex and Catherine."
Mongeau, 45, played in 54 games for the Blues from 1989-92, recording 25 points (six goals, 19 assists) along with 10 penalty minutes. He appeared in 328 regular games for Peoria over six seasons (1989-92; 93-96), amassing 447 points (165 goals, 282 assists) and was a member of the Rivermen that skated to a pro hockey record 18-game win streak in addition to a Turner Cup championship in the 1990-91 International Hockey League (IHL) season.
He was inducted into the Rivermen Hall of Fame, along with teammate Kelly Chase, in 2001
