CHARLESTON, SC - The Hickory Crawdads rallied for five runs in the ninth inning against the Charleston RiverDogs for a 7-5 win in front of 2,114 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in Charleston, SC on Wednesday night. This is the 'Dads third comeback win against Charleston in five games played against thus far.

With the RiverDogs (10-11) up 5-2 going into the ninth inning, Manager Greg Colbrunn called on his closer RHP Ryan Flannery (1-2, 6.75 ERA) to try for the save. After getting 3B Matt West to pop up for the first out, Flannery loaded the bases on two walks and a single. DH Cody Podraza then drew a walk of his own to bring in LF Cristian Santana from third and knock Flannery out of the game with the score 5-3.

RHP Ronny Marte was next in line to try and preserve the win and pick up a save for Charleston. With the bases still loaded and one out, SS Leury Garcia singled to right to bring in 1B Mike Ortiz from third and keep the bases juiced. CF Miguel Velazquez then lined out to SS Kelvin Castro, but Castro got greedy trying to double up Podraza at second and airmailed the ball into right, allowing pinch runner Joe Bonadonna to score from third with Podraza moving to third and Garcia to second. RF Jared Prince then hit what appeared to be the last out of the inning to 3B Garrison Lassiter, but Lassiter made a bad throw to first, allowing both Podraza and Garcia to score, putting Hickory on top, 7-5.

RHP Josh Lueke made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth, putting the tying runs at second and third before recording two strikeouts and a groundout for his SAL-leading seventh save for the Crawdads (11-10).

RHP Andrew Doyle (2-0, 7.45 ERA) picked up the win for Hickory, giving up one run (earned) on two hits in an inning of work. RHP Hector Nelo pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.

RiverDogs starter LHP Shaeffer Hall pitched a masterful eight innings giving up just two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks, while striking out four to keep his ERA below one at 0.81.

Charleston got on the board first in the third when LF Deangelo Mack singled to left, scoring RF Zoilo Almonte from second. The Crawdads tied it up at one in the top of the fifth when Leury Garcia reached on an error, allowing Podraza to score from second.

The RiverDogs struck back with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to push ahead, 4-1. The 'Dads added a run in the seventh on an RBI groundout from Podraza, but Charleston answered back again in the eighth to stake their lead to 5-2 going into the ninth.
