
Savannah Tops Legends, 4-1

Armando Rodriguez allowed one run through six and two-thirds innings, and the Savannah Sand Gnats defeated the Lexington Legends 4-1 Wednesday night in Savannah.
The Sand Gnats scored first in the bottom of the fifth inning against Legends starter Tanner Bushue. Cesar Puello led off with a bunt single, stole second, continued to third on a throwing error by catcher Jonathan Fixler, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alonzo Harris.
Lexington tied the game in the top of the sixth on a two-out double by J.D. Martinez. The hit scored Jose Altuve, who had singled.
Savannah broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth. Wilmer Flores tripled with one out, and scored on a single by Jefry Marte.
The Sand Gnats added two runs without a hit in the eighth inning. Kai Gronauer walked and was sacrificed to second by Puello. Alex Gregory grounded to third baseman Jonathan Meyer, and when Meyer's throw got past first, Gronauer scored to give Savannah a 3-1 lead. Gregory advanced to third on the play, and scored on a wild pitch by Lexington reliever Daniel Sarisky.
Rodriguez (1-3) was the winner. Bushue (1-1) took the loss after going six innings and allowing eight hits while walking two and striking out five.
The series continues Thursday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. at Grayson Stadium.
