Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa-The United States Hockey League has recognized J.T. Brown as its Reebok Offensive Player of the Week award winner, as announced Tuesday.
The forward from Burnsville, Minnesota matched the league's best single-game goal-scoring performance of the season Friday against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Brown found the net four times, twice in the second period, tying the score and then giving Waterloo the lead, then twice in the third to retie the game and put the Hawks in front for good, on the way to an 8-6 finish. Saturday his goal was the only one Waterloo scored during a 6-1 loss to Cedar Rapids; it came shorthanded and unassisted. The barrage of points puts Brown at 72 this season, third-most in the league. His 32 goals are enough to rank him second. Brown leads the Black Hawks in both categories.
"I'm not sure I've seen a guy have a game like that," said Waterloo Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O'Handley. "Not just four goals, but four meaningful goals. We need our best players to be our best players at this time of year, and there's no question J.T. answered the call Friday."
Brown joins Derek Arnold and Brock Montpetit as Black Hawks who have been conferred with the Reebok Offensive Player of the Week award this season. Four other Hawks have won the USHL's Defensive or Goaltender weekly awards.
Waterloo's next game is at home Wednesday night against the Sioux Falls Stampede at 7:05. The matchup is rescheduled from February 3rd and not on the Hawks' original schedule. All tickets for February 3rd will be honored, and additional tickets are just $5.
