Tri-City Storm News Release

KEARNEY, Neb. - Not only did Carsen Chubak earn his second shutout of the season, but he now holds a distinct honor in team history, as the Tri-City Storm (24-20-6, 54 pts) beat the Youngstown Phantoms (16-32-2, 34 pts) on Friday night, 2-0. Chubak broke the Storm single-season saves record, which was held by Ian Keserich (1,005).

Chubak accomplished this feat just a few minutes into the game, as he came into the night needing just one save to tie the record and two saves to surpass Keserich, who set the record in the 2006-2007 season.

The Storm's Mario Puskarich scored the game-winning goal 6:26 into the first period. Puskarich, who was making his Storm debut, got a pass from Mitch Hughes in the neutral-zone and fired a shot to the Youngstown net. However, he missed on the initial shot and followed the miss shot to the lower-left circle to score his second goal of the season and first as a member of the Storm.

Tyler Amburgey added another goal on the power play at the 5:34 mark in the second period. Brett Mohler and Radoslav Illo assisted on Amburgey's sixth goal of the season and fourth on the power play.

Chubak (17-14-6) made 25 saves in the shutout victory and now has 1,029 saves this season. Jordan Tibbett (8-16-0) made 29 saves on 31 shots in the loss for the Phantoms.

Tri-City on the power play was 1-for-4, while Youngstown was 0-for-5 with the man-advantage.

The Storm's "Magic Number" to clinch a playoff spot has been reduced to 15 standing points with the win over the Phantoms.

Tri-City will host Youngstown for the final time this season on Saturday night, before heading to Chicago next weekend to play the Steel again.
