Vancouver Giants Name Players Of The Month

The Vancouver Giants today named 18 year old goaltender Mark Segal as their player of the month for February, while defenseman David Musil has been named the Giants Scholastic player of the month for February.

Segal, a Vancouver native, played in 11 of the Giants 12 games during the month of February and went 6-2-1-1 with 2.11 goals against average and a.923 save percentage. The highlight of the month was a 4-0 shutout win over the WHL's highest scoring team the Wheat Kings in Brandon on February 23rd. Segal stopped 35 shots that night in a 4-0 Giants victory. It was his second shutout of the month and his third of the season. In 31 games this season, Segal, 6'1'' 180 pounds, has a record of 16-9-1-1 with a 2.66 goals against average and a.912 save percentage.

Musil, of Delta, carried an 80 plus average through the month of February, while being on the road and away from school for almost half the month. The 6'3'' 190 pound, 16 year old Musil also continued to excel on the ice with 2 goals and 7 points and a plus 8 in 12 games in February.

The Vancouver Giants will play three games this weekend, starting Friday night in Kamloops, followed by games in Kelowna and Chilliwack. The Giants will return home to the Pacific Coliseum for the first time since January 2nd, when they host the Kelowna Rockets on March 12th.
