Grizzlies Beat Stockton 5-4

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (25-21-2-5) defeated the Stockton Thunder (24-19-2-6) 5-4 in regulation Tuesday night at the E-Center.

In a game that went back and forth, Utah took a 2-0 lead 6:04 into the game as Tom May (16) and Ryan Kinasewich (33) scored for Utah. Tom May ended an eight-game scoreless drought as Ryan Kinasewich, in his return after two weeks in the AHL got his three-point night started. Stockton though battled back to tie the game at two for the first intermission and took their first lead of the night at 3-2 3:13 into the second period.

Utah though countered with their first of two power-play goals on the night as Peter Aston fired a puck in from the left-wing circle at 7:53 of the second period. Kinasewich and Sixsmith picked up assists. Utah took a 4-3 second intermission lead with 58 seconds left in the middle frame as the Grizzlies got up the ice in transition and AJ Perry, from the corner, fed Sixsmith (15) in front of the net for the goal.

The Grizzlies were unable to hold the lead however as Daryl Marcoux fired in a puck from the point at 5:47 of the third period. Utah though responded 1:01 later at 6:48 of the final period as Lance Galbraith redirected home an Aston shot on the power-play to give Utah a 5-4 lead that would stand. Utah held Stockton without a shot in the final 48 seconds as the Thunder controlled the Utah end with an extra-attacker.

Utah went 4-4 on the penalty-kill in the game against Stockton's number-one ranked ECHL power-play. Utah's third-ranked ECHL power-play went 2-4.

The Grizzlies number-one line of Ryan Kinasewich (one goal, two assists), James Sixsmith (one goal, three assists), and AJ Perry (two assists) combined for nine points in the game.

Mitch O'Keefe improved to (17-9-1-3) in the win, stopping 24 of 28 shots.

Utah completes their five-game in eight-day home stand Wednesday when they host Stockton again. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
