
Mario Lemieux Foundation Night Caps Phantoms' Next Homestand

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - In what has become a team tradition, the Youngstown Phantoms are joining forces with the Mario Lemieux Foundation for a special evening to benefit cancer research.
Saturday, Feb. 20 will be Mario Lemieux Foundation Night, as the Phantoms host the Omaha Lancers at Covelli Centre for a 7:15 p.m. puck drop. Lemieux is a co-owner of the Lancers franchise, alongside fellow Hockey Hall of Famer and former Pittsburgh Penguin Luc Robitaille.
During the game, Phantoms fans will be able to bid on valuable National Hockey League memorabilia such as Penguins jerseys signed by Lemieux and Sidney Crosby, a 2009 official Stanley Cup Final program autographed by Lemieux and four Igloo Club tickets to the Penguins game against the Buffalo Sabres Tuesday, Mar. 2 at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh.

The Mario Lemieux Foundation was created in 1993 by the Penguins legend after he survived a battle with Hodgkin's disease. The main objective of the foundation is to fund promising medical research projects being conducted by talented scientists. The health-themed home weekend begins the night before as the Phantoms and Lancers clash on American Heart Association Night Friday, Feb. 19 at 7:15 p.m. Youngstown (14-24-2, 30 points) is currently on the road for four games in six nights, starting with an 8:05 p.m. Friday faceoff with the Sioux Falls Stampede.
