Minnesota Lynx Welcome Inaugural Pacesetter Great State Youth Championships to Target Center

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Lynx today announced a partnership today with Pacesetter Sports to bring the inaugural Great State Youth Basketball Championships to Target Center this summer.

The Great State Championships will be held on five Lynx game days this summer: July 17, July 24, July 31, August 8, and August 15. The championship round of the tournament will feature 10 games, pitting the top two youth teams - boys and girls - from Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and North Dakota with teams from grades 5-9 competing for national championships.

Pacesetter is conducting championships in each state beginning with regional playoffs from February through April. The Minnesota regional playoffs begin in region 4 at Concordia University, St. Paul on Sunday, Feb. 14 for girls teams grades 5-9, and Sunday, Feb. 21 for boys teams grades 5-9. All players on qualifying teams must be from the same school or live in the same school district in order to compete in the qualifying round. The winners from Minnesota's eight regions will advance to the 2010 Minnesota Youth Basketball State Championship in St. Cloud in June.
