Matt Pierce scored two goals, including one in the sixth round of the shootout to decide the contest. Goaltender Mark Sibbald stopped 32 shots on goal for his third straight win. Mississippi is now 2-3-0 in Face Off Field Trip games that count in the regular season standings.
Thursday night, January 28, the RiverKings met the Rush again at the DeSoto Civic Center and again defeated in a shootout Rapid City 4-3. Louis Dumont netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the shootout in a three-point night for the veteran forward. Sibbald won his fourth straight game as a Mississippi goaltender with a 20-save effort.

In the last game the week on Saturday, January 30, Tulsa stopped the RiverKings' five-game win skein with a 7-3 victory at the BOK Center in Tulsa. Schwartzbauer, Truelson, and Stephen Margeson scored the Mississippi goals, while Darrell Stoddard assisted on all three RiverKings' goals and Ryan Held helped on two. Sibbald took his first CHL loss, despite stopping 19 shots on net.
THIS WEEK
Another busy week awaits the RiverKings, as they play three games between now and Saturday, two at home and one on the road.
Tuesday night, Mississippi meets the Allen Americans at the DeSoto Civic Center. The RiverKings are 1-0-1 in two previous meetings this season against the expansion franchise.
Friday, the same teams meet, but in a different venue, as the RiverKings travel to the Allen Event Center in a 7:30 PM encounter.
Saturday, Mississippi will be back home to play the Wichita Thunder in a 7:05 PM meeting at the DeSoto Civic Center.
BEECH TRADED, JARMAN ACTIVATED
Late Saturday afternoon, Mississippi goaltender Kevin Beech was sent to the Corpus Christi IceRays for future considerations. Beech, last year's Most Outstanding Goaltender in the Central Hockey League, has struggled this season since activated from goaltender injured reserve in early December. In 13 games this year, the native of Brantford, Ontario had fashioned a 6-3-2 record, a 3.21 goals-against-average, and a save percentage of.875.
Also prior to Saturday's game in Tulsa, forward Kevin Jarman was activated to the RiverKings roster after being on the injured reserved since January 16th. In 34 games this season, Jarman has scored four goals and added nine assists for 13 points.
LANDMESSER REACHES ANOTHER MILESTONE
Mississippi RiverKings' captain and veteran defenseman Derek Landmesser reached another statistical milestone Friday night in Wichita. Landmesser achieved 500 career CHL points with an assist on Kevin Truelson's power play in the first period of the RiverKings' 2-1 victory over the Thunder. Derek added another helper Saturday at Tulsa. Through 539 career and RiverKings' games; Landmesser has 88 goals, 413 assists, and now 501 career points. Already this year, Landmesser reached 400 career CHL assists on November 21, becoming the tenth CHL player to reach that statistical level. He's also been named a starter on the CHL "All-Decade" team and was a reserve on the CHL All-Star Team that played earlier this month in Laredo, Texas.
OTHER MILESTONES (OR MILESTONES TO BE)
RiverKings' forward Adam Smyth played in his 100th game in Mississippi in Saturday's loss at Tulsa. Smyth has played 124 career CHL games and 316 career professional contests. Smyth reached 100 career professional points with an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over Rapid City.
Defenseman David Simoes is two games away from playing 100 games with the RiverKings. Now at 98 appearances, he'll reach the 100 mark Friday at Allen, barring injury beforehand.
Defenseman Dane Marshall plays in career professional game number 100 Tuesday night against Allen. In his second professional season, both with the RiverKings, Marshall has appeared in 99 career contests.
Forward Matt Pierce reaches career CHL and RiverKings appearance number 100 on Friday night in Allen, barring injury beforehand. Pierce is now at 98 contests in Mississippi and the CHL. He has 151 career professional appearances.
RiverKings Coach Kevin "Killer" Kaminski coaches his 500th career professional game Tuesday night at home against Allen. In 499 games as a head coach, Kaminski's record is 237-222-40. He started his head coaching career in Long Beach (WCHL-ECHL) in 2002-2004. He's also coached the Missouri River Otters (UHL), Youngstown SteelHounds (CHL), and is in his second season with the RiverKings. Earlier this year, Kaminski coached his 100 career game on the RiverKings' bench on January 16th at Missouri and was in his 200th career CHL contest as a head coach on October 31st at home against Bossier-Shreveport.
