Odessa Jackalopes News Release
(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes picked up seven of an eight possible points last week in four games to extend their first place lead in the Southern Conference to 13 points over the Allen Americans. The team will host Corpus Christi and Colorado this week.

Season overall: 34-6-4
Wednesday at Rio Grande Valley, 5-4 (OT) Win
Mike Ramsay scored a hat-trick which included the game-tying and game-winning goals. It was the 500th win in the coaching career of Paul Gillis. Odessa finished their season series going 5-0-1 against the Bees this year.
Friday vs. Arizona, 2-1 (OT) Win
Dave Van Drunen was the overtime hero for the Jackalopes who extended their winning streak to eight games with the win, tying their season high. Mike Ramsay scored the game-tying marker for Odessa for the second straight game.
Saturday vs. Arizona, 6-5 (SO) Loss
Odessa's win streak came to an end in their first loss to Arizona of the season. Odessa held a 5-3 advantage in the third period before the Sundogs scored a pair to force overtime and the eventual shootout.
Sunday vs. Laredo, 4-3 Win
Phil Plante's third period, power play goal and Joel Martin's 45 saves in net were the difference in Odessa's 17th one-goal win of the season. Odessa leads the CHL with 25 one-goal games this year. They are 17-4-4 in those close contests.

The Jackalopes are 5-0-0 against the IceRays this season, but four of those games were decided by one-goal - two in a shootout. Corpus Christi is currently tied for the final playoff spot in the Southern Conference.

Two of the top teams in the league square off this weekend when the Colorado Eagles visit Odessa. Colorado is currently second in the Northern Conference, one point behind Rapid City. Odessa lost their first meeting against Colorado, 2-1, in a shootout back on December 12th.
The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
