Force Blow Past Storm With Nine Straight Goals

KEARNEY, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm (17-16-6, 40 pts) could not contain the powerful offence of the Fargo Force (25-9-3, 53 pts) who scored nine unanswered goal to defeat the Storm on Friday night, 9-1 at the Viaero Event Center. The Storm has never won a game against the Force in 11 meetings between the two teams in two seasons.

The Storm's Michael Montrose scored his first goal of the season on the power play 9:12 into the first period, as Jaden Schwartz and Nate Jensen received the assists. It would be the only goal the Storm could get past Fargo goalie Ryan Massa.

Colten St. Clair scored on a delay penalty 15:07 into the first period to tie the game at 1-1.

The Force scored five goals in the second period to take a 6-1 lead, as Marek Hrbas, Nate Condon (scored twice), Brian Cooper, and Garrett Allen each scored for Fargo in the period.

Fargo added to their lead in the third period, scoring three more goals. Alex Lippincott, Chase Grant, and John Stampohar each tallied goals to give the Force a decisive 9-1 win.

It was the 15th straight game the Force have earned standing points, which has them now three points back of West Division leading Omaha.

Carsen Chubak (11-12-6) made 22 saves on 26 shots in the loss for the Storm, while Steven Bolton made 8 saves on 13 shots in relief for Chubak. Massa (12-1-1) made 31 saves on 32 shots in the win the Force.

Tri-City on the power play was 1-9, while Fargo was 1-7 with the man-advantage.

The Storm will play the Sioux City Musketeers Saturday night before heading back on the road to Green Bay and Cedar Rapids.

Notes: Tri-City is 6-6-0 in the month of January with one game remaining... The loss for the Storm was the worst of the season
